I understand that people have a lot on their plates, I’m a parent, I study, I’m passionate about health and fitness, and I have built a rewarding career constantly adjusting to the changing needs of my family. What I know now is my challenges have built my resilience, adapting to the various roles I have undertaken has build perspective and adaptability and a positive perspective has helped me get the most out of my career and build a strong work life balance.

Current Position: Community Corrections Officer – Parole Unit South Coast Correctional Centre.

I have worked in both community and parole units, commencing as administration assistant in 2016 – I have been a CCO for nearly four years. I enjoy my role and I work with great people.
I have always worked with people, from working in the finance industry, running my own general store, Human Resources Manager and also Corporate Services Manager for a disability service provider.
I believe my strengths are my communication and organisation skills – the key elements to my role.
Qualifications:
I am a qualified Community Corrections Officer.
I have a Bachelor of Applied Management, Advanced Diploma in Management and Human Resources.

have worked for QCS for 20 years. Started in community service, moved through to case manager, senior case manager, supervisor and district manager. I have undertaken a 9 months secondment to policy and legislation in head office. I migrated to Australia in early 1997 to undertake my undergraduate studies at Macquarie University. At the end of my studies, I decided to stay and took up Australian citizenship.
Privately, I am an ardent mountain biker, road cyclist, skateboarder and loving father to four children who share and participate in my sporting activities. I enjoy reading non-fiction books on topics ranging from sociology to biographies and classical fictions. I also thoroughly enjoy cooking with my children when I have the time. I am fluent in four languages both written and spoken and generally love languages and linguistics.

The offending profile for these areas are largely drug, property and violence. In Redcliffe there seem to be quite a few supervised persons who experience a disability – either mental or physical. A lot of my work focuses on domestic violence – both working with perpetrators and victims. I’m a passionate advocate for using the Safe and Together ™ Model and collaborating with other agencies to achieve outcomes.
Is there an area you are particularly passionate about mentoring others in? (optional):
I am open to mentoring on any topic, but given my background it may be beneficial for me to provide guidance and advice to newer case managers, or anyone with difficulty in working with domestic violence perpetrators.

After a very long-distance relationship with my now husband, I moved to Tasmania from California in 2001. I have enjoyed assimilating to the Tasmania way and my family and I love to get out in our beautiful surroundings.
I have been employed as a Probation Officer in Tasmania for 13 years. I enjoy the challenges of building good relationships with offenders, seeing the positive changes that they may make during their order and working with my team. In 2019, Tasmania commenced home detention with electronic monitoring and I have been involved since the beginning of supervising those on these type of orders as well as training my colleagues in policy and procedures.
Is there an area you are particularly passionate about mentoring others in? (optional):
I believe the best way to feel confident in what you do is a strong foundation. I am passionate about providing good implementation of the basics of the role and procedures used, to allow one to feel self-assured in their abilities. I also believe building good rapport with offenders is one of the keys to compliance and teaching Probation Officers the balance of this in their own style is something I enjoy.

I have also volunteered for a few agencies and events involving domestic violence, women’s refuge and starlight foundation.

I have completed a Cert 3 in Community services, Cert IV in Correctional Practice and currently completing a B of Social Sciences (criminology) and Law

A bit about yourself:
Born in Australia lived overseas and finished my schooling life overseas so when I returned to Australia in 1985 I had to relearn the language and the culture. Worked in factories until 1995 when I decided to get back to studies and change my career path. I started studies in the field of community work while working in disabilities for about 6 years. From Tafe went to University and completed the Social Science degree. Since then have been working in corrections firstly in the private sector for about 7 years and then transferred to government where I have been since. While at corrections I have been working in all areas of program delivery such as treatment programs, transitions and also skill development programs. I could say that program delivery is my passion, my love and what keeps me in the agency so long.
Is there an area you are particularly passionate about mentoring others in? (optional):
I have been in programs for a long time so can talk and coach in that are for ever so if I can help others getting to know more about programs I would be happy
